Cory Edward Snider

Writer, filmmaker, editor · Founder of Everscope Multimedia

Cory Edward Snider—also known as Cor—is a lifelong creator, writer, and editor based in Southwest Virginia’s New River Valley. Through Everscope Multimedia, he brings together practical audiovisual services and a longer ambition: to develop original films and series, and help build a regional production culture with room for people whose ideas and circumstances do not fit easily into the usual industry routes.

His interest began long before there was a company to house it. Since he could use a word processor, video editor, or media player, creating has been central to his life. A film, show, or song was something to enjoy, but also something to take apart: what did it mean, how was it made, and why did it work? Writing, editing, research, and an ongoing study of filmmaking grew out of those questions.

An unconventional route

Limited resources, neurodivergence, and a longstanding mistrust of authority have shaped an unconventional path toward filmmaking. Creative work has also been a way of coping: a place to give difficult experiences a form, examine contradictions, and imagine possibilities beyond immediate circumstances. Those experiences inform his work without defining the whole of it.

The writers, filmmakers, and performers who came before him offered a craft to study and examples of what storytelling could make possible. His interest extends beyond the finished work to the decisions behind it—the structure of a scene, the rhythm of an edit, the relationship between an image and a sound. That curiosity connects his interests in narrative, satire, dark comedy, and speculative storytelling with the practical work of communicating an idea to an audience.

Building the work

After years of developing ideas, Cory founded Everscope Multimedia as a home for both commissioned work and original projects. Snide Studios became an experimental outlet for irreverent comedy and collaboration; its fictionalized characters belong to that creative world. His professional practice through Everscope centers on directing, pre-production, and post-production, with production brought together around the needs of each project.

Planning is one of his specialties: finding the story, considering what a production will actually require, and giving the work a direction before the camera is rolling. Editing carries that intention through the material. Client work and original development draw on the same attention to structure, rhythm, image, sound, and the people a piece is meant to reach.

A regional vision

Everscope’s longer purpose is rooted in alternative Appalachia. Cory sees creative potential in people and communities that often have fewer resources, fewer connections, or less room within established systems. Having encountered some of those barriers himself, he wants to help other disadvantaged and unconventional creators develop their work, find collaborators, and be heard.

He is building toward that vision through practical services, independent relationships, and original work. For Cory, media and branding are forms of storytelling and communication: ways people make sense of themselves, their businesses, and one another. Everscope is an effort to turn that belief into a sustainable business and a creative legacy.
